PERSONAL INFORMATION

A second round pick (49th overall) of the Detroit Red Wings in the 1994 Entry Draft, Mathieu has won two Stanley Cups during his three years in Detroit. He had 17 points (five goals, 12 assists) in 1997-98. During the 1998-99 season, he scored four goals and 10 assists in 75 games. In 1999-2000, he registered six goals and 12 assists in 81 games. In 2000-01, Mathieu improved to ten goals, 15 assists and 25 points as the Red Wings won the Central Division title.
Mathieu played for Sherbrooke of the QMJHL from 1993-1995, and led the team in scoring in his final season with 37 goals and 70 assists in 67 games. In 19 playoff appearances, Mathieu tallied five goals and added 17 assists for the Faucons.
Mathieu enjoys playing softball on the Red Wings' charity team. He is a huge WWF wresting fan and can do an excellent impression of WWF superstar, "The Rock."
